Walter's Planet
Author(s): Wolfe, Richard
Reading age 6 to 9y. This charming book is about a boy called Walter who builds a telescope out of bits and pieces that he has found and then discovers a new planet. Walter is a mad collector, he loves to collect pipes, wire, springs and bits of computer, and he keeps it all in his room. When he discovers a new planet an astronomer is called in and Walter achieves the honour of having a planet named after him. It is great to see a picture book that is science-based and that features as its hero a boy who could be called eccentric.
