The ANZAC Puppy
In the middle of the night, in the middle of the winter, in the middle of a war, a puppy was born. This fictional story was inspired by the true story of Freda, a Harlequin Great Dane and mascot of the NZ Rifle Brigade during World War 1. The ANZAC Puppy is a simple story about the reality of war, hardship, friendship and love.
Winner, Children's Choice Picture Book Award, NZ Book Awards for Children and Young Adults 2015.
Peter Millett is a full-time author living on Auckland's North Shore. "When I was at school I used to dream up stories about spies, superheroes and alien teachers. I was so excited to discover that nearly thirty years later I would get to have these stories produced as cool-looking children's books sold in different countries all around the world. What a rush!" Among other titles, Peter Millett is author of the Boy Zero Wannabe Hero series, published by Faber & Faber. Trish Bowles is a self-taught artist, and has been drawing for as long as she can remember. She has now illustrated over 20 books, and is always happiest when on the drawing board.
