Miss Primrose and the Missing Bulbs
Author(s): Janet Slater-Bottin
Miss Primrose is a small girl, neat in dress and fastidious in nature. In this first story she brings home some uninteresting bulbs, which she leaves on the windowsill to plant later. First the dog, then the cat, and finally the hen inspect and play with the uninteresting bulbs. As a result, Miss Primrose loses them. It's not until the next spring that, 'the plain old boring flower bulbs, positively ordinary, lacking in appeal' show their true nature and Miss Primrose finds they're not lost at all - nor are they positively ordinary.
