It is November 1918, the end of the First World War, and an epidemic of influenza is sweeping the city of Auckland. Jimmy K's father is 'missing in action'. Now his mother has taken his younger brothers and sisters away to the country, and thirteen-year-old Jimmy is left with his uncle to face the horrors of the epidemic. But Uncle Rory has a plan, and Jimmy is swept along with his mysterious mission to right a wrong from the trenches of France.
