New Zealand titles - children

The Pohutukawa and The Kauri are the first of two books in a new natural history series for 2002 and beyond called NZ Trees for readers aged 8 years and older. The series will showcase native trees in New Zealand that are well-known, beginning with the pohutukawa and the kauri and to include the cabbage tree, rimu and nikau among others. Information about where these trees grow in New Zealand, adaptations for particular environments, life cycles, history , conservation, sizes noted, uses (e.g. for furniture, gum and so on), ecology and the scientific families the trees belong to are included in the text. All books are colour throughout with stunning photographs and diagrams that illustrate the respective texts. Each book showcases a particular conservation project (if applicable), for example the work of Project Crimson in The Pohutukawa.
