Rough, Tough and Had Enough

Author(s): Mary Barrow

New Zealand titles - children

Determined to spend âÃÂÃÂqualityâÃÂàtime with his son, a father introduces his son to the wonders of nature, by taking him on a hike. At the end of the first day the pair make it to the first hikerâÃÂÃÂs hut only to discover it is occupied by a seasoned hunter who looks unsavoury but grudgingly agrees to share space and supplies. While the father fosters a friendship, the old hunter looks with scorn on the city boy and during the evening and following morning harries him with information. The father and son continue on their way but soon get into trouble. The father is hurt, not badly but enough to make it impossible to continue without help and the boy must return to find the hunter. While he is away the weather turns and a downpour brings a flash flood.
