Hippo Dance

Author(s): Sheila Forbes

New Zealand titles - children

Harriet the hippopotamus lives near a palace, in a swamp, where she is very content...until the drought comes. Everything starts to dry up, including Harriet's favourite pond. In search of food and water, Harriet wanders in through the palace gates and gorges herself on vegetables galore. The King of Kalong is having a party ? and Harriet watches as the guests dance. She too wants to dance. Later, all alone in the moonlight, Harriet begins to sway...And as she sways and dances, the clouds gather, and rain begins to fall.
