Cabbage Tree and Ferns are the third and fourth books in the NZ Trees series initiated in 2002. The series is written for readers aged 8 years and older, and showcases native trees in New Zealand that are well-known. Further titles in the series will include the rimu and the nikau. Information about where these trees grow in New Zealand, adaptations for particular environments, life cycles, history, conservation, sizes noted, uses, ecology and the scientific families the trees belong to are included in the text. The books are colour throughout with stunning photographs and diagrams that illustrate the respective texts. Each book showcases a particular conservation project (if applicable).
