When he uses his magic, disastrous things happen. Gates to other worlds are beginning to open on their own and the entire valley is in danger of being destroyed. The sorcerers and dragons blame Toby and he is banished ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂàbut still the valley crumbles. The only solution is to find a missing dragonstone that was stolen many years ago. While the dragons search for the stone (and the thief) the valley's magic begins leaking into all the worlds outside. As the dragons sicken Toby is desperate to find a place to belong, and heartbroken to think he is the cause of the valley's destruction. And when he finds the true identity of his father, things suddenly get much worse. The long awaited return of Toby, The Dragon's Apprentice, by popular demand, sees Linda McNabb revisit the scene of her first award winning novel, and answer all the fans who have been asking what happened next for the dragon Klel, and Toby, his Apprentice. The Dragon's Apprentice was the Children's Choice in Junior Fiction in the 2003 NZ Post Awards
