The Last Battle (Chronicles of Narnia #7: Colour Plate Edition)
|Author:||C. S. Lewis|
|Series:||The Chronicles of Narnia|
The books narrate the adventures of various children who play central roles in the unfolding history of Narnia, a fictional world of magic, mythical beasts, and talking animals. The protagonists are all children from the real world, magically transported to Narnia, where many are called upon by the lion Aslan to protect Narnia from evil and restore the throne to its rightful line. Lewis's exploration of themes (not usually present in children's literature) include religion, race, and gender.
This text has been published to coincide with the C.S.Lewis centenary in November 1998. Celebrations will take place from October onwards.
Clive Staples Lewis, born in 1898, wrote many books for adults but the Narnia stories were his only works for children. The final title, The Last Battle, published in 1956, won the Carnegie Award, the highest mark of excellence in children's literature.
